Ayan Harare is a climate finance negotiator and advocate for climate and gender justice. She serves as Somalia’s National Climate Finance Coordinator, Article 6 Designated National Authority (DNA) Representative, and National Gender and Climate Focal Point, driving efforts to strengthen climate finance access, advance gender-responsive climate action, and position Somalia in global carbon markets.

With nearly a decade of experience, Ayan has shaped climate policy and advocacy across Africa. As former Africa Climate Justice Lead at Oxfam International, she led regional engagement across 19 countries and influenced key positions within the African Union and the Africa Group of Negotiators.
She holds a Master’s in Global Health and Nutrition and a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from the University of Westminster, London, and is committed to advancing equitable, locally driven climate solutions for Africa.
